MPAA RATING: R for violence, terror and gore, and language
Starring Thomas Jane, Marcia Gay Harden, Andre Braugher, Laurie Holden, Toby Jones, William Sadler, Frances Sternhagen, and Jeffrey DeMunn
David Drayton and his young son Billy are among a large group of terrified townspeople trapped in a local grocery store by a strange, otherworldly mist. David is the first to realize that there are “things” lurking in the mist…deadly, horrifying things…creatures not of this world. Survival depends on everybody in the store pulling together…but is that possible, given human nature? As reason crumbles in the face of fear and panic, David begins to wonder what terrifies him more: the monsters in the mist—or the ones “inside” the store, the human kind, the people that until now had been his friends and neighbors? Andrew gave it a10:
I jokingly called the ending in the movie theater before it happened. Go see the movie instead of YouTube-ing the ending, it'd ruin it. Really good movie that's worth your time to watch.
[Anonymous] gave it a9:
Amazing thrill ride throughout the movie, great for scifi lovers. this isn't just a cheap scare movie, but really twisted especially in the end. I guess this is what makes king so popular. I would alter the ending so that you don't feel like shit at the end.
Steve B. gave it a10:
Excellent adaptation of the novella. I like the nods to other horror movies and the rose from the Dark Tower that it is rumored that Thomas Jane will also be in. The ending is phenomenal, a true horror classic.
Tammy R. gave it a10:
This is a great movie that i really enjoyed. Worthwhile to see it.
rofl? lol gave it a10:
Amazingly retarded ending... otherwise, the best acting, scares, creepiness and atmosphere in a horror movie ever.
Cole C. gave it a9:
Frank Darabont was offered twice the amount of the money if he changed the ending. He said no (Bravo), and what you get is undiluted horror movie. The characters are well developed. The almost instant social -fracturing that takes place amongst them is brilliant, and is quite reminiscent of some the George A. Romero movies. The creepies that lurk in the mist are also intriguing, as is concept of where they came from. So clearly, compared to the endless "Grudges" and "saw" rehashes of late, this movie offers a fresh breathe of air, albeit misty one.
Hamed M. gave it a9:
This is one of the greatest movies that i have ever seen about the human and God. They (the main characters) died because of losing their practical faith in God.
