JON Voigt did an excellent potrayal of Pope Johnn Paul II. His speeches were thought and VERY clear. JP II had more impact on the world than many of this generation may ever know. It is a shame that two critics by giving the worst marks can drag down the average. JP II gave many of his speeches extemporaniously. He gave the speeches in several languages, which can be boring to those being able to speak in their own tongue. Would like to see more of these productions on all of the popes, both good & bad. Perhaps Hallmark can lead the series now that ABC & CBS have done something. God bless you all

Jon Voight looks and acts the part in a well-done puff piece for the Church of Rome. The series doesn’t tell us if JP2 agonized over his and the church’s failure to make any great and profound changes for the good of mankind. Did he agonize even a little over the church’s failure to address real world problems such as unrestricted 3rd-world breeding, child molestation by priests, etc? Sure he was a nice guy, but his only real legacy is the promotion of a bunch of questionable candidates, including “Hitler’s Pope” Pius XII, for sainthood. This series is itself a hagiography. I'll buy the DVD of an honest series that gives us a critical look at the Church, but of course, CBS would be afraid to do that.

This is only the second time I have ever cried watching tv. Both Cary Elwes and especially John Voigt give great performances that on a couple occasions leave me thinking I am hearing the voice of the Pope and seeing his face. A very powerful movie. I ordered the dvd right away.

Jon Voigt's portrayal may have been divinely inspired (He even looked like JPII). The movie was wonderful!

What a POS. A movie about a man who really had no impact on anything. All he ever did was give speeches, and rather poorly I might add.

A sensitive, accurate, and inspiring story of John Paul II. As someone who has followed John Paul II closely, and attended two World Youth Days, I was impressed. I'd love to see more inspring specials like this on TV. I'm amazed that a "regular" network did such a great job on this! I'm buying the DVD.
