New York Post Linda Stasi
The dialog is crisply Pileggi, natch, but it's the flavor of South Beach, the most exciting American city in the 1990's (before the tourists realized that it was safe to go back in the water) that's captured precisely.

[It] telegraphs its most important punch too early on, and the rest is loud music, strobe lights, nose candy, and debauched dancing.

More attention [is] paid to recreating the glam disco milieu than to developing character.

Unfortunately, this flick is far more interested in hot bods than an arresting story.

Wahlberg is winningly sincere and yet sneaky.... But the lazy, simplistic script plays more like an episode of a second-rate crime series.

A giant bore.

It all feels wan, tired and painfully predictable, with scant dimension for either Gedrick or Wahlberg to mine beyond the tough-guy sneers.

El Guero gave it a7:
the only reason I gave it a 7 is because I waited so long for this to come out!!!just shocked something finally made it to the screen. Wahlberg was great ( I will watch whatever his next project is , without a doubt) , Gedrick had the look, just not a deep enough script. there were a ton of non factual events. I know that it wasn't suppose to be true life , but come on , where was his buddy from New York, he DJ guy? we needed more insight into dealings withAllie Boy and also, Paciello's (oops I mean Trujero -whatever that is) dates with celebs and models. like the critics have said , it was a second rate crime movie. that scene at the end when Chris was running from the cops , that was disgusting. What happened to the movie that was supposed to start Mario Lopez? I guess it never got off the ground and morphed into this "B" ,made for TV flick. All in all , I'm glad it was made , I'm happy A&E is showing shows like this and the addition of Sopranos , I find myself watching this channel more and more.

Otho S gave it a3:
I agree with T Scott's assessment of the talents of the Wahlberg brothers. Donnie has "the right stuff," while I don't get the same "good vibrations" from Mark. (Sorry, I could not resist.) This movie was really bad, though—cliche-ridden throughout, like a subpar episode of CSI: Miami or Miami Vice.

T Scott gave it a7:
Not too bad, but the storyline was predictable. The best acting, by far, was done by D. Wahlberg. Why doesn't someone find a good script for this guy??? He's a great actor (better than Mark - brings a lot of depth to his characters), but his talents are wasted on flimsy stories. Jason Gedrick did a pretty good job. They just didn't have much to work with in terms of the script. How many minutes of the movie were wasted showing the dance floor? We get it already.
