Arrested Development is the best sitcom on TV... and the season 2 boxed set only offers further proof. [14 Oct 2005, p.133]

It may take some time for new viewers to become accustomed to the style of the show, but those who take the time to get to know the Bluth family will be well rewarded. [Individual grades: Style A-, Substance A, Image B+, Audio B+, Extras A-]

The laughs-per-minute quotient here is insanely high, making it great value as a home library purchase.

Showcases the comedy's oddball twists and frenetic pacing, and overlooked moments of hilarity come to light with each repeated viewing. [28 Nov 2005, p.55]

Each of the episodes was in and of itself was a perfect gem of comedy, strung together by sharp writing and fantastic performances.

There's a lot to like in its savage satire of corporate-think, greed and sanctified notions of the American family - particularly in the inspired and original performances of Jason Bateman and Jeffrey Tambor.

There are running gags that can't be appreciated by watching an episode of the show, but fans that watch the entire season are rewarded with brilliant writing, and excellent acting. [Individual grades: Video 9, Audio 8, Extras 3]

It's more layered, more densely packed with bits of comedy than just about any other show on TV.

Like Seinfeld before it, Arrested Development impressively combines cultural touchstones with an innately clever humor that avoids being too witty for its own good.

If this DVD set delivers the laughs, it's stingy with the extras.

Alex P gave it a10:
It's a really sad time for viewers everywhere when shows of this caliber(I can't think of another) are outlived by all the other mindless, unfunny, "comedy" shows out there. Oh well thank you for three fantastic seasons.

hoopster41894 gave it a10:
This is my favorite show. I'm mad they cancelled it but the movie (if there is one) will be awesome.

[Anonymous] gave it a10:
One of the greatest comedies of all time. Someone with some common sense has to get this back on television. Writing, acting, production was all excellent. This can not be imitated.

Robert G. gave it a10:
Unique, Intelligent, and Irreverent -- no wonder it didn't last.. Arrested Development was one of those rare television shows that truly broke the mold, and in doing so, created a genre unto itself. Similar to 'The Office', the cinematography led you to believe you were watching hidden cameras showing you people behaving as they normally do -- quite different from the staged look and laugh tracks that usually accompany sitcoms. The dialogue, while sometimes a bit contrived, rewards the intelligent viewer who is paying close attention (similar to 'Scrubs' in this regard). Furthermore, unlike the other programs that were accompanying this show on Fox's Sunday night lineup (Family Guy, Simpsons, etc.), you could not attain the full enjoyment from this show by just sitting down and catching any half-hour episode. I started watching toward the end of the first season, and since going back and catching up, it's amazing how much more of the dialogue takes on new (and hilarious) meaning.. While it's a shame this show didn't survive any longer, I highly recommend grabbing the DVD set, starting from the first episode, and enjoying this great show. Review by Robert H. Goretsky of Hoboken, NJ.

Adrien B gave it a9:
The best sitcom of the 21th century. It's a huge disappointment that it was canceled after 3 seasons. Among all the crud that we find on TV now, it was great to finally have a show that measured up to amazing shows like Seinfeld and Frasier. Season 1 was great, season 2 took it home.
