Iron Man, an explosive third-person action shooter game that pits one of the world's most renowned Super Heroes against unspeakable odds, draws its story from the upcoming movie while also incorporating story elements from original Iron Man comic books. Using the advanced technology in Iron Man's suits of armour, gamers can take advantage of the wide array of high-impact weapons to strategically annihilate any enemy force standing in their way. Before tackling stunning and immense open battlefields, players can customise their armour suit as they encounter progressively more vicious enemies, and fight in epic battles that could challenge even the toughest Super Heroes. Pelit (Finland)
Your basic run-of-the-mill action game, which manages to entertain for a while. The controls are awkward and sadly the environments are not affected by the destruction and mayhem. The optional hero objective is a great idea. [June 2008]

A surprisingly deep game with some rough edges. If you can manage to get a grip on the controls and combat you will quickly grow to enjoy what the game has to offer.

So, if you can get past Iron Man's steep learning curve and a little bit of tarnish in the visual department, what are you left with? A game that's far from perfect, but still better than a lot of movie and comic book tie-ins that have come before.

It can be fun for a bit, but considering you'll be done in two or three hours, I'd save your money and put this one on your Gamefly or spend a weekend with a free rental from the store.

In essence, if you absolutely loved the film to bits and absolutely must have an Iron Man game to go with it, then Sega have done as good a job as they can of producing a playable version of the movie.

As movie tie in games go, Iron Man sits neatly on the pile and follows the formula of being decidedly average at best.

Iron Man only just scrapes itself above being a typical movie tie-in title by virtue of some nifty flight controls and the excellent suit. The missions are fun but repetitive and with a lack of a proper checkpoint system and muddy backgrounds, this fails to take off into the stratosphere of a top-quality 360 experience.

Cheat Code Central
Die hard fans of Iron Man will really appreciate the smooth controls and frantic gameplay. After all, the game feels like you've stepped into the toughest part of a comic. However, if you're just a regular gamer, you're going to want to pass on this title. The repetitive missions, terrible story, and ugly cutscenes are not worth your hard earned cash.

Even with all that fanboyism, I came into this game with optimism tempered by mediocre expectations. It failed to meet even them. The game is just plain bad. It feels underdeveloped, hacked together and downright shoddy.

Iron Man is a typical movie game. The game has outdated graphics, repetitive gameplay and unsatisfying controls. Almost everything in this game feels wrong. Even the official licenses and soundtrack don't do the game justice. Even Marvel fanatics should stay far away from this product.

Needless to say, I played this entire game tense, angry, and praying that the next level would be the last. I never really felt like I was in control at any point during the game. The summer movie games usually bring misery, but I never expected them to bring this much pain.

I despair! I despair before the vast amount of things that are simply wrong with this game: Graphics which range from prehistoric to reasonably acceptable, a continuously horrible soundtrack and features that just won’t work properly. For my sanity’s sake, give me a proper movie game, just once!

Another blockbuster movie, another movie tie-in game. Time and time again we’re treated to hastily produced games designed to cash in on a movie that’s attracted attention in the mainstream media. Iron Man is no exception to this rule, and even though there are some qualities to be found here the overall experience is a lackluster one.

Jetstor gave it a10:
Very, very fun game. The story is a bit confusing, with arbitrary inclusions of elements from comics that doesn`t fit very well with the screenplay, but it doesn`t matter at all. After strugling a while to grasp the controls, I found myself enjoying a lot to fly in open spaces and blow hordes of enemies away. It`s not a revolutionary nor deep game, it`s just a very much fun and enjoyable one.

Kyle S gave it a7:
Not a bad game. The flight mechanics are incredibly fun, though on the Formidable setting its an extremely hard game. worth checking out fun game to rent, only buy if your a hardcore Ironman fan.

Lola T. gave it a7:
I was expecting, well, nothing really. Pleasantly surprised by the fluid movements/feeling of flight. I am one of those invert axis people, and once I did that, everything was smooth sailing. Grabbing the missiles took me a while to get use to, but well worth the effort! I had read alot of negative reviews, and honestly, I wonder if they even actually played the game. I know it's not a 10, but it's definitely not a 3 either. All in all, it's good fun. (even if it IS a movie game!)

Dave M. gave it a9:
Once you get past the controls, it's a blast -- I love all of the upgrade options and the suits that can be unlocked. Plus, I, for one, really like the graphics. One of the nice touches I found was how the armor will automatically go into hover mode if you start going down too steep of a gradient -- nothing worse than doing a 50 ft face plant from the top of a cliff in a thousand-pound suit of armor!

wulf w. gave it a0:
Total crap movie tie in game like transformers, pirates or Caribbean why game companies do it...don't they understand it doesn't matter how good the movie is it will not sell your crap movie tie in game so stop wasting money and time making them.

Chad W. gave it a7:
Once you get used to the controls its a fun game.

Tom E. gave it an8:
It is one of the better licensed titles out to date. I really like the open battlefield concept and the ability to convert from land based to full aerial attacks is great. I was able to gain roughly 300 gamerscore points through the first 5 missions. This is not going to be on the top of your replay list but it definitely will be fun while it lasts!!!
