It exudes elitism, class, and affluence at every turn. It’s a game every bit as precise and refined as the cars it replicates. But it also doesn’t forget that it’s still a game made for the grease monkey in all of us.

At £25 this is an absolute steal, and don't listen to anyone saying this is only a demo, it's not - it's worth every penny and is only going to get bigger and better given the support the Japanese version is seeing.

First, this demo has as much, if not more content than a lot of other racing games out there, and second, a lot of the profits from this “demo” will certainly be rolled over into the final game, making it even better than ever.

The presentation is excellent, as is expected from Gran Turismo’s debut on the PS3. The game certainly fills a void in the PS3’s library but the relative lack of content (only 70 cars and 6 tracks), means that only the Gran Turismo diehard should pick up Prologue.

Gran Turismo fans that can’t simply wait another year or more just for the full GT5 will find a lot to like here for the reduced price while casual GT fans that have been overwhelmed by the immense depth of previous Gran Turismos can hop in and get the hang of the game without being a huge car nut quite well.

As much as I liked the game in single player, I am disappointed by the multiplayer-mode. The lack of a lobby or a feature to select who you want to play with are mayor shortcomings compared to other games of today. What's worse though is the missing damage system and flaws in the way penalties are awarded, and the players who abuse these shortcomings. The penalties may be designed to stop players from sliding against the boards or using shortcuts, but often punish victims of assaults by other players using unfair means.

What is without doubt the biggest disappointment of all is the online implementation. It's currently woefully behind what we've got in Forza 2 and PGR4, lacking even basic support for custom races. Support for up to 16 players is excellent, but without a friends list or any proper match making you're left to pick from the 35 events currently listed.

It's not quite brilliant, and we particularly mourn the apparently stillborn online racing, but there's more than enough here to justify the asking price, and exploring it all is a consistently pleasurable experience, which should have considerable appeal for GT's ardent supporters and satisfy the curiosity of the rapidly-growing PS3 installed base at the same time.

Gran Turismo 5: Prologue might be just a prologue, but the game is excellent. Prologue offers enough challenges to keep you busy. The game is almost just as good as a full version racesimulator. The only minor points are that the online mode and the racetracks could have used a bit more finetuning.

Prologue will definitely scratch the itch for GT fans waiting to get their hands on next-gen racing, but the disc suffers from an overly short single-player game and the same problems -- the ability to drive recklessly and the lack of damage -- that have dogged the series for a while. Online the game is a real treat, though.

The strength of this game’s racing only makes its lack of growth in other fundamental areas all the more baffling. How easy would it be for Gran Turismo to rule the racing world if Polyphony put half the effort it does into capturing muffler audio into areas like a new career mode, pacing, and other features that rival franchises have conquered long ago?

I like what Gran Turismo 5 Prologue offers, I just don’t care for the decision to monetize it. "Gran Turismo 4" featured more than 50 tracks and more than 700 cars, so if $39.99 buys you just six tracks and 70 cars in 2008, I don’t even want to imagine how much Gran Turismo 5 will cost.

George M gave it a9:
This game was made for the fans and if you're one of those then plunking down $40 for this is NOT a problem. The game offers a good handful of cars, a handful of tracks, online play for the first time in a GT game, and the excellent "inside the car" view that made PGR3 so much fun to play. There are racing games out there that cost $60 that don't offer as much as this game.....so $40 really isn't that much when you take THAT into account. The graphics are AMAZING and once again push the envelope for "photo-realism" to new heights, easily one of the most visually stunning console games to date. The music is sub-par but certainly not horrible and the sound-effects are more than adequate with the sounds of the cars rumbling through the speakers. The cars handle beautifully but you can't really tweak them in Prologue so we'll probably have to wait until GT5 drops before we can really test the handling of the cars when tuning is involved. Like i said.....if your a fan of the Gran Turismo games then GO GET THIS......no reason for fans to be disappointed with this, especially with the online play which is a monumental addition to the series.

chico gave it a10:
This is the sexual game wit naked men with huge penises who are willing too play.

Hal S. gave it a0:
First off, this game is well made. After playing it once, I was very disappointed with the results. they start by giving you $35,000 to purchase a car. I purchased the Mazda and was happy with it. But it is not fast enough to win a race, the turning is sloppy on this game. I am not going to return it because I will play it again and try to become better, but for now it totally sucks. They don't even give you a option to customize it! Gran Turismo 2 was much better then 3 and 4. GRAN TURISMO 5 PROLOGUE SUCKS!

Alan B gave it a10:
This game is AWESOME. The cars look and sound super real. When racing, it feels like you're really driving the car, you can feel the weight and quality of the car, you can feel every little detail about the car.. kinda creepy with this level of detail in a video game. If you like cars, GET THIS GAME.. if you don't care much about cars, but just like fun games with lots of replay value.. GET THIS GAME.

Jordan M gave it a10:
Fast fun realistic sweet is how this game can be described.

Shamus M. gave it a10:
Easily the best and most realistic racing game out there today it makes you feel as if you were in the game driving this is a must have for all the ps3 owners and racing fans.

Andrew P gave it an8:
Stunning graphics and realistic physics make this game shine. It is nothing more then a large demo, but an excellent and large one at that. All though the on-line play is lacking, this is just a taste of things to come. All of the people claiming that the game is short or not worth money are probably not car enthusiasts or GT freaks. All of us die hard GT guys have been begging for prologue for years and finally have it. I can't wait for the full version of GT5 to be released. I will lose many hours of my life to this game once again. This is a must have for all GT fans and auto enthusiasts. If you are a casual GT fan or car fan, it may be worth a rent until the full game is released.
