Going beyond "run and gun corridors," "monster-closet AIs" and static worlds, BioShock creates a living, unique and unpredictable FPS experience. After your plane crashes into icy uncharted waters, you discover a rusted bathysphere and descend into Rapture, a city hidden beneath the sea. Constructed as an idealistic society for a hand picked group of scientists, artists and industrialists, the idealism is no more. Now the city is littered with corpses, wildly powerful guardians roam the corridors as little girls loot the dead, and genetically mutated citizens ambush you at every turn. Take control of your world by hacking mechanical devices, commandeering security turrets and crafting unique items critical to your very survival. Upgrade your weapons with ionic gels, explosives and toxins to customize them to the enemy and environment. Genetically modify your body through dozens of Plasmid Stations scattered throughout the city, empowering you with fantastic and often grotesque abilities. Explore a living world powered by Ecological A.I., where the inhabitants have interesting and consequential relationships with one another that impact your gameplay experience. Experience truly next generation graphics that vividly illustrate the forlorn art deco city, highlighted by the most detailed and realistic water effects ever developed in a video game. Make meaningful choices and mature decisions, ultimately culminating in the grand question: do you exploit the innocent survivors of Rapture...or save them? [2K Games]

Bioshock is a masterpiece and it has not lost its shine. It´s one of the most visually amazing games you can find in PS3, Rapture is still a breathtaking scenario, the combat mechanic is rich and demand the player to be creative and think on a tactical way instead of the usual mindless approach, and overall, is one of the most magnificent games you can add to your collection.

It's perhaps most telling that although we have already played BioShock a bunch of times on other platforms, it's still every bit as intoxicating on the PS3. In fact, the temptation to complete additional playthroughs proved too much to bear as we immediately began a new game after finishing it the first time around.

BioShock presents moral choices that haven’t been successfully achieved in gaming before. It takes risks, demolishes taboos, and is still one of the most impressive titles ever released. While the game is not perfect I cannot bring myself to give it any less than a perfect score. It is easily one of the best games ever made, and one of the most entertaining experiences ever created. The plot rivals great novels and the voice acting and animation trump some of the best moives.

Bioshock is that rare game where the plot, environment, and combat are all steps above the normal video game experience. Games at their very best, like this one, can create amazing alternative worlds for us to inhabit, doing those things we can't do in real life. This is one product the free market should be very happy to have.

Bioshock is one of the best video games for PlayStation 3. As simple as that. Its duration of 10 hours and its absence of multiplayer mode do not cloud one of the most frightening and at the same time captivating experiences that can be lived at this moment. This is an innovating, funny and exciting game. Technologically very advanced, it is a new attempt to get to the highest degree of videogaming.

BioShock for PS3 may not be as impressive as I thought it was going to be, but that’s not to say it isn’t the definitive version; it is. And the definitive version of one of the best console games ever made spells “must-buy” for the uninitiated. Nevertheless, the lack of Challenge Rooms was rather disappointing, but, thankfully, many of the glitches have been resolved.

Bioshock is one of those once-in-a-lifetime games. Think "Super Mario World"; "Legend of Zelda"; "Ocarina of Time"; "Halo," genre defining classics that are still just as stunning years later. It’s a richly constructed, lavish game which wraps you up from the first second to the last, and yes, the PS3 version is every bit as brilliant as 2007’s Xbox 360 version.

Really, though, the only glaring weakness we can find in BioShock is that it may be too unusual, too original, too artistic and too genius to be embraced by the general public. Please don't let this game become that forgotten, one-of-a-kind masterpiece. We need sequels. We need more.

Bioshock for the PS3 is, like it was on Xbox 360, one heck of an fps-adventure. It's also still a tad bit linear and monotonous at times. But despite these minor flaws this is still a game where design and atmosphere sets the mark for other developers to aim for. Everything from your moral choices to the interconnected mythology of Rapture is intriguing and a must have for those who haven't experienced the Xbox 360 counterpart yet since this version is just as good in every way.

Lam L. gave it a6:
I have only played the demo. I do not like powers in games unless it is coherently woven into the story and adds to the gameplay while staying true to the narrative. I don't like powers that just exist for you to have "another gun." I put Bioshock in this category of nonsensical reasoning. Everybody praises the story but how good can it be when the premise is so cornball and hokey. Think! A Utopian society where scientists, artists and talented citizens are given free reign and what these people come up with is super powers in vending machines?!!!!?? What The Fuck!! What NERDY wet dream is this? I cannot even hold a straight face when thinking about this premise. That kills it for me right there! Why doesn't someone just create a game where you are God!! and can have any power imagined- like the power to fart and the concussion knocks things back and the odor induces vomiting distracting your enemies momentarily. This is cool and humorous. Or how about you can shoot a rayfrom your hand that can grab a person's heart and slow it down or speed it up causing extreme pain and horror. Do you see what I mean why stop there? Let's have bees come out of our ass and attack things- yeah! The story of Bioshock is just outrageous and nonsensical- stupid- to be exact. Enough Said! If I am wrong about the story please someone enlighten me. Someone forward this to the nerds that created this game so they can try to prove me wrong. This rant is directed at all games that add "powers" for no reason other than to have "another gun." Thanks for the creativity you nerds.

George M gave it a10:
Easily one of the best looking, story-rich first person shooters ever to grace a console...now its on ps3. Having played this on 360 already i can assure you this is one of the definitive gaming experiences of THIS generation, everything about this game is just top notch and screams high production values. I currently own the 360 version, but from what i've heard...the ps3 version will be getting exclusive content, that alone is enough to warrant a Bioshock 360 trade-in for a Bioshock ps3 upgrade.

Andrew O. gave it a9:
Jack H., you probably used the wrong ammo type against the wrong enemies. Either that, or your aim stinks. Anyway, I never played this for Playstation, but I have for Xbox. One Word. Amazing. Great atmosphere, flexibility, story. Yes, it's a little too much like System Shock 2, and just a handful of extras for the PS3 doesn't sound like enough, but Sony diehards who haven't yet gotten the chance to expierience this masterpiece should immeadiatly get off their butts and buy it right now.

ARM gave it a9:
An excellent game on almost every level; amazing graphics, incredible atmosphere, and some of the most twisted and insane/evil/compelling characters I've run across... even if most of them are long dead and gone by the time you enter play. The only places I could take off from the score for is the intense uselessness of some plasmids and weapons (Note: magic hands that shoot bees probably should be more effective, ditto weapons that spew dangerous chemicals) and the unnervingly easy end boss, who barely put up more of a fight than a Big Daddy. All in all, however, this is a game well worth any gamer's time. Makes you think, makes you feel, makes you jump at shadows and set enemies on fire with a snap of your fingers. What more could you really want?

AJ gave it a10:
What an amazing game! I've only played for a few hours, but that's enough to realise the quality. Graphics, gameplay, story and AI are all great, very interactive environment, old school yet cool weapons that can use different ammo, with the addition of Plasmids, your arsenal is so widespread, there's many ways to defeat your foes.

Jack H gave it a7:
We've Already played this...on PC...and it's old. Granted yes, the game is still good...but it's not "that" good. There is no sense of pride in the weapons you discover throughout the game...all of the ones that shoot bullets are crappier than any other bullet-shooting weapon i've ever used in any other game...all you need is your wrench and your magic hand powers, the guns don't do the job. The story is good, has cool twists, and saving the girls is pretty awesome. But let's face it, other games have come out sense then that are more deserving of this score. Dead Space for instance, i enjoyed quite a bit more than this game.
