Turok is an epic, story-driven first-person shooter set on a dark, mysterious planet in the future. Players take on the role of Joseph Turok, a former black ops commando, now part of an elite special forces squad, known as Whiskey Company, which is on a mission to take down a war criminal – Turok’s former mentor, Roland Kane. Set on a planet inhabited by Kane and his Mendel-Gruman Corporation soldiers, Turok must use his elite military training to elude Kane’s well-trained army and the ravenous, unpredictable dinosaurs, huge insects and other massive creatures that populate the environment. Some of the grave minus points were luckily eliminated during the porting from console to PC but the biggest demerits remain: Monotone graphics, linear level-layout, a loose story and an AI which I’d effortlessly be able to convince to jump into the gaping maw of a T-Rex. Years ago Turok was an instant hit on game consoles. But today on PC things are different. The controls are probably the worst of all console-to-PC conversions and not editable. It's not possible to save the game freely and save points are so rare, it almost feels like the developers want you to give up. Turok fails in level design and game controls, but we've played it until the end because it tells an interesting story.
