Absolutely wonderful.

Addictive, famously frivolous, and yet so well designed that even the most serious gamer can enjoy it; Klonoa just simply rocks the GBA world.

Bright, kaleidoscopic levels fill every inch of the screen, while the music and sound effects play nicely with Klonoa’s game style.

GameSpy
An enriching game experience with lots of technical moves and hours of gameplay. It does not, however, offer much in the way of new style or play for the GBA.

Easy to beat, but difficult to complete. [Winter 2001, p.46]

Rounding out the package is a beautiful story where Klonoa must literally fight for the freedom to dream—a freedom that has been denied by a grouchy Emperor suffering from chronic insomnia.

It has some of the most brain-bending and sophisticated gameplay of any platform-style action/adventure game released in years.

If you’re a GBA owner looking for an original (non-remake or port) 2D old-school side-scrolling adventure, then look no further than this.

More of a puzzle game than a platformer with great graphics and sound. [Feb 2003, p.97]

Sound issues aside, Klonoa: Empire of Dreams is a solid platformer that's loaded with its share of addictive challenges and quests.

All Game Guide
It plays much like its PlayStation and PS2 counterparts, but feels more at home on the 2D-friendly Game Boy Advance than it did on higher powered consoles.

Nowhere as ambitious as Klonoa 2 on the PS2. However, it is a highly respectable emulation of the general feel of the Klonoa universe.

Despite its strictly 2D perspective, the game just looks phenomenal. [Sept 2001, p.148]

Unfortunately the game follows a highly structured pattern of progression, which can be a slight turnoff to some.

Great game not a disappointment!

B. S. gave it an 8:
First the game is short. But not short enough for you to really care because there's lots more surprises to discover but than again it's one of those rent and remember things. Seeing that this game can take 3 days to beat the 5 day rental might not seem worth it. They could have put in a two player (like surfing or something) but it wouldent suit the game mabey they should make something like mario vs. battle ( I mean a rip off of mario) eeeeerrrr ran out of things to say and do ( just like this does but much faster).
