Like Derek Jeter, All-Star Baseball 2004 is the game "with all the tools." With the most realistic simulation ever, easier to play functionality, and the same all around skill set that makes Derek the leader and winner he is, ASB 2004 truly is the game with all the tools. [Acclaim]

IGN
Even though the 2004 edition has some minor tweaks here and a couple of changes there, essentially it's just a better tasting version of last year's game... in a new wrapper.

The way the CPU fields the ball is disappointing at times, as is the lack of a player editor or a franchise mode, but you'd have to be really discerning to let those shortcomings prevent you from enjoying this game.

Nintendo Power
It's a fun baseball sim, but not a grand slam. [Apr 2003, p.135]

Nintendophiles
Acclaim did a good job fixing much of the problems of "All-Star Baseball 2003" with this year’s version, but they added very little to the series.

GMR Magazine
Acclaim made a lot of improvements and did a great job at capturing some of the spirit of baseball, but the actual on-field experience seems a little off. [Apr 2003, p.64]

Game Informer
ASB's terrible fielding and baserunning are enough to turn me off from the rest of the game. [Apr 2003, p.98]

All Game Guide
It is not the best playing game, however, due to the unwieldy cursor system used to hit the ball, the lack of useful onscreen indicators to help make catches, and suspect fielding and baserunning AI.

Doesn't break any new ground since the last version.

Boomer W. gave it a 6:
The last game was better because you could do things better than 2004. stealing second is much easier than the last game because the shortstop run so it would be a shorter throw. it is easier to strikie out in 2004 than it is in 2003 if you are on rookie because it goes so slow.
